Oversized or exceptional cargo haulage
If you are planning to operate an oversized vehicle on the road network, you will need one or more permits. Here is what you need to know to obtain them:
- We can issue an authorization for exceptional haulage for the roads that are not under our jurisdiction, i.e., the Billy-Diamond and Transtaiga highways, the section of the Route du Nord between Km 258 and 407, the R-1005 highway, the N-810 Villebois-Selbaie-Joutel highway, and the Sarcelle-Muskeg-EM1, Chisasibi, Waskaganish and Eastmain roads. To obtain this authorization, you must submit your application by email to rad@sdbj.gouv.qc.ca
- We also notify carriers of all road obstacles, major roadwork, and any other situation that might hinder or delay the requested transport.
- You are required to have obtained a special permit issued by the Ministère des Transports de de la Mobilité durable (MTMD) before SDBJ can issue an authorization for exceptional haulage. All the relevant information is available on the MTMD website (in French only).
- Circulation on bridges located on roads that fall within our jurisdiction is regulated by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF) and you must obtain a passage permit from them before SDBJ can issue an authorization for exceptional haulage. All the relevant information is available on the MRNF website (in French only).
